When this couple first bought the custom home in Downtown Bozeman, it suited all their needs: great location, chic design, and a perfect home for 2.  The pair had recently moved back to the area from LA where the husband had developed a successful acting career.  But once the couple became a family of four, enter 2 daughters 2 years apart, the layout of the home began to feel fractured, and the space did not flow to suit the family’s needs.  Design firm MFGR and Interiors firm Envi Interior Design partnered with Archer Built to design a major renovation that essentially doubled the square footage of the home.   The team maintained the original footprint of the home but rotated the volume of the front portion of the house to accommodate a larger living room, dining, and powder and a new second floor to give the daughters their own bedrooms, a bathroom and laundry.  The Entry and Stair were reconfigured to accommodate these major changes.  A double height volume houses an MC Escher set of stairs, custom fabricated in steel by the MFGR  team.  The stairs lead to two separate second levels, one is the primary suite and the second the children’s two-bedroom suite.  The stair serves not only as a method of travel between the homes 3 levels, but also serves as the focal feature of the home.
